Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Renee and I'm the owner and artisan for Quilted Keepsake Ornaments. I'm also the owner of this blog, "A Passion For Handmade". I had always loved making crafts as a young girl. I was surrounded by some pretty talented women growing up, my grandma and my mom. I don't think there was ever a time I did not see my grandma making something, whether it was mending clothes, hand quilting or making someone an outfit, but my favorite time was when she would make me doll clothes. I loved that!!! She always used old clothing to make them but they were wonderful. I never knew this back then, but she never used patterns in anything she made. She had a natural God given gift and I believed she could make anything.
My mom is also very talented and learned a lot from her mom. She always had her machine out sewing both of us clothes. She loved to make us matching outfits. I didn't mind. I loved it! She still sews today, but mostly making beautiful quilts. She has made so many as gifts to family and friends as well as many she made for herself. Here is one she has right now on her bed. What a great heirloom to hand down to her grandchildren. So, because of these talented women that I have been blessed with, I too have that niche to create.
I am married. My husband Kurt and I have been married almost nineteen years and we have a son who is turning eighteen very soon. My husband has been collecting sports and Disney memorabilia for many years, so he has been selling on eBay over ten years now and still carries 100% positive feedback. If you or someone you know is into sports stuff, check out his listing at KROCollectibles. He's a nice seller too!
I started making quilted ornaments back in 2009, but before then, I owned another website called "Rose Garden Quilts". I made rag quilts, rag tote bags and many other handmade crafts. Then, the economy took a dive and decided to shut it down. Thankfully I had already been dabbling in quilted ornaments, so it wasn't too long after that, that I opened up my new website. I've come a long way from making my first ornament to now by really getting the technique down to a science and switching to top quality materials. I'm very proud of the quality of work I put into each ornament and the handmade community I belong to.
Thank you for stopping in and reading about me. Please browse as long as you like and if you would like to stay up to date on new ornaments or this wonderful crafting community, please join my site, located on the right side bar.
God Bless,
~Renee
